Our Story
BePrepared was born when founder, Dylan O’Brien, was in a near miss car accident. In that moment, Dylan reflected on what his family would have had to do to piece his affairs together, and recognised the incredible burden of stress and confusion that would have landed upon their shoulders. He decided that he had a responsibility to take care of this for them and took action.

Data is Secure
At every stage, our program is engineered to make sure that no compromised service could lead to your data being exposed.
SSL Encryption
All data sent from your computer is encrypted before leaving (in transit).
Unique User Keys
Each user has a unique key that is used to encrypt only their data.
Application Level Encryption
All data is encrypted again by the applications unique key before being saved.
Database encryption
Once the encrypted data is stored, the database itself is automatically encrypted (at rest).

Your death is reported.
Either your lawyer or one of your confidants reports your passing to us inside the app.

Your passing is verified.
We attempt to reach out to you. If we can’t get in touch, we then cross-check with your lawyer and remaining confidants to ensure all are in unanimous agreement that you have died & a death certificate has been received.

Items are released
Once we have confirmation, your data is dispersed to the intended recipients.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of data can I leave behind
You can upload practically any type of file to your account – pictures, videos, documents, zip files, contact cards, PDF’s, contracts, music and cryptocurrency wallets are all allowed.
The only real exception are emails. If you want the email to send automatically when you pass away, then it needs to be created with the inbuilt email writer.
Can I speak to you before signing up?
Yes! If you wish to send us an email, you can do so at: hello@prepared.ly
If you wish to speak on the phone or over zoom, you may also do so by booking an appointment here.
Can you see my data?
No – everyones data is completely encrypted. We can not see anything you create or upload within the application.
How do I make an email send upon my death?
Simply log in to your account, click ‘Create New’ and click ‘Email’.
Here you can choose who it should send to, compose your email, and add any attachments you may wish to include.
You can also choose a send date if you want it to send in the future, and not immediately upon your passing.
Do you have a free trial?
Yes – Each person receives a 14-day free trial when they sign up.
