CASE STUDY
How Beprepared Helped Bob and Joan Create Memories That Will Live Forever
Bob was concerned – some of the documents and photos were fading and he wanted to preserve them. Joan had been tracing their family tree, but it was all on paper. It was the perfect opportunity to begin a special family time capsule for the grandkids using BePrepared.
When Bob and Joan were stuck at home for days on end during lockdown, they decided it was the perfect time for a spring clean of their cupboards. It was a trip down memory lane for the couple, who discovered boxes of old documents and letters, photo albums and even slides.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you know when I've died?
The first stage is for one of your confidants (people you trust) or your lawyer to let us know via their BePrepared account. These people are informed when you elect them as confidants that they have this responsibility.
Once we receive an alert that you’ve passed away, we then attempt to get in contact with you.
Should you be unreachable, we then ask all of your confidants (who don’t know each other) and your lawyer to confirm your passing.
Only once they are all in unanimous agreement, will your data be released.
Do you require a death certificate?
Unfortunately death certificates are easy to forge. We prefer to employ social engineering to ensure that your data is only released after you pass away – that is, a group of people you select and trust, who don’t know the others you’ve selected, who need to independently confirm your passing.
We also recommend connecting your account with your lawyers so that they can perform a death certificate check before confirming the death on their end.
Who will the items I leave go to?
You can leave items to anyone. The people you add will only receive the items you specifically assign to them – and nothing else.
Can I time the releases?
Yes, some items (such as emails) you are able to release on specific dates. If you want to release other items in this manner, please contact us to discuss.
Can I use my lawyer only?
Yes, if you wish, you can use your lawyer as your only confidant.
